Lush Cosmetics: Vegetarian, Handmade & Animal Cruelty Free

Lush Cosmetics, you are hearing about it from the #LushAddicts on Instagram and the Millennials on Facebook but maybe they are on to something here. Lush products are all handmade, 100% vegetarian where 80% of them are vegan & 100% animal cruelty free. They are also one of the only companies I have found that list all of their ingredients right on their packaging and on their website so you know exactly what you are putting on your body.

Today we made our first every trip to Lush and it was a complete hit for both myself & the two year old, bath bomb obsessed child I call my own. The moment we walked through the door it was complete bliss & I knew we were going to be there for sometime. Gwen was instantly drawn to the bath bombs and bubble bars in the back of the store & the girls in the store were quick to help pick out ones she would enjoy and we would get the most bang for our buck. Of course Gwendolyn wanted one of everything but her first haul was a good one.

Ickle Baby Bot "If you’re looking to rewire your little one’s energy panel so you both can get some sleep, draw a warm bath with this sleepytime robot, designed to mesmerize the senses with ray guns of lavender, chamomile and sandalwood. These sleep-inducing essential oils are nature’s cure for restless babes. Having trouble getting shuteye yourself? One soak with this soother and you'll be off to dreamland too." (Vegan product)

Lady Bug Bubble Bar  "Ladybug, ladybug, fly away home and fill up the tub with fragrant foam! Let this friendly bug take you under its wing. Crumble it up under running water in the bath, then relax under a blanket of fluffy bubbles as geranium and peppermint oils create a fragrance that's equal parts balancing and uplifting." (Vegan Product)

"Our biggest Fun bar means you can see double (or triple or quadruple) rainbows without waiting for the rain to end. Turn these seven colors into anything you like, admire your handiwork and then when it's time to clean up, lime and grapefruit oils will help cleanse skin, while fair trade vanilla soothes and softens. And to bring a little color to others, 2.5% of the sale from each bar supports projects in Japan providing safe places for kids to play following the Fukushima nuclear disaster." (Vegan product)

Now don't think for one minute this mama left empty handed. Going in to Lush, I knew very little about what I could possibly want, unlike Gwendolyn I don't take baths very often and I have never used a bath bomb in my life but that didn't stop me from discovering what Lush has to offer. You hear about their bath bombs and bubble bars often but what I didn't hear much about is their facial cleansers & toners so they were some things I needed to try asap. I got so much help picking the one I felt was right for me, we tried Fresh Farmacy & Herbalism for facial cleansers to help with lovely troublesome skin aka adult breakouts. Then it was time for a toner, who knew there were so many different toners out there, I thought they all did the same thing but nope, we tried Breath of Fresh Air & Eau Roma Water. So what did I leave with?

Herbalism- I loved the way Herbalism left my skin feeling refreshed & moisturized, I just knew I couldn't leave the store without it.

"Battling with oily, troubled skin? Cleanse with the power of herbs. Our gentle green giant has an exfoliating, deep-cleansing base of kaolin clay and rice bran to mop up excess oils, and a toning blend of rosemary, nettle and chamomile to leave skin feeling fresh, clean and calm. Herbalism gets its color from chlorophyllin, which is extracted from alfalfa plants: it’s rich in nourishing vitamins and minerals and helps to balance out your skin’s oil production. Say hello to clear, balanced skin!" (Vegan)

Breath of Fresh Air - I needed this toner for my lovely red cheeks & to bring back my face to life.

Soothing sea water spray
"Give your skin a new lease on life with a blend of sea-inspired ingredients. A gentle spritz of sea water, aloe vera gel and rose absolute soothes, cools and hydrates stressed-out complexions and works wonders to calm redness too. You won't find any alcohol in our toners—just kind and caring ingredients to help you feel your best!"(Vegan)

Of course we had to keep things even, Gwen got three things so this mama got three things. For years I've had a battle with deodorant, I can not stand the feeling of it, the smell & the constant deodorant stains on my dresses and tees. So you guessed it, this mama got some new deodorant!

Powerfully fresh
Made with a blend of natural herbs and powders, The Greeench is one of the best creations we've ever made. Thyme, rosemary and tea tree are the triad of super powerful herbs that make it so fantastically effective at deodorizing 'pits and leaving them smelling beautiful. Micro fine powders of magnesium trisilicate and sodium bicarbonate keep underarms dry and comfortable, free from discomfort and moisture. Use it anywhere that needs a little herbal assistance! (Vegan)

What could be better than our in-store experience today that will have us returning to buy more? Knowing that all Lush Cosmetics fight against animal cruelty, these products have never and will never be tested on animals. They don't just not test on animals but speak out against it, even offering what they call the "Lush Prize" that  awards $320,225 annually, the  Lush Prize focuses on safety testing for consumer products and complements projects that address alternatives to animal testing for medicines. They  award prizes for Science, Training, Lobbying, Public Awareness and Young Researchers.

I only buy animal cruelty free products and love vegetarian made makeup! The brush of Fresh air toner sounds amazing!
